Dear all,
I am trying to create contig from forward and reverse files. But Mothur app is closing. I am unable to perform.
mothur > make.contigs(ffastq=/Users/apple/Dropbox/KF_S_S4_L001_R1_001.fastq, rfastq=/Users/apple/Dropbox/KF_S_S4_L001_R2_001.fastq)

What version of mothur are you running and what version of OS X ? Mothur requires at least OS X 10.14

I am using Mac OS 10.12 Sierra with Mothur 1.44.

I am getting error with Mothur 1.39.5 also
mothur > make.contigs(ffastq=/Users/apple/Dropbox/arctic/KF_S_S4_L001_R1_001.fstq, rfastq=/Users/apple/Dropbox/arctic/KF_S_S4_L001_R2_001.fastq, processors=4)
Using 4 processors.

The version of OS X is the issue. Mothur is built for 10.14 or greater. I recommend upgrading your version of OS X. https://www.apple.com/macos/how-to-upgrade/
