Renaming sequences

My sequences were named xyz123 and I want to change all them to GSN1, GSN2, GSN3 and so on… Can some suggest a command in mothur.

Hi there,

Maybe rename.seqs does what you want? Otherwise, I’d suggest renaming them with sed in bash.

Thanks Pat for reply. I used the command rename.seqs but it gives 1 to … so on. But I want to rename by giving a code of my choice. Please help me.
