Copying folder to mothur directory in ubuntu

Hi,

I’m starting to use mothur via ubuntu. I’m trying to copy my files from my Downloads or my desktop or even my C:/ drive, to my mothur directory but it just does not work. I always end up getting this:
cp: cannot stat ‘/home/kmtayaban/Downloads/gcpick’: No such file or directory

Please help! Thank you so much.

what happens when you do ls /home/kmtayaban/Downloads/?

Hi Pat, it say no such file/directory. I changed computer, and it worked perfectly. I wonder if this is about my admin settings in my laptop?
