Im running mothur v1.38 in a windows 7 machine with 8 cores and 32Gbs of RAM. I have fed my dist file to clearcut in mothur, but this causes mothur to crush immediately. I would appreciate a solution.
How big is your distance matrix? I suspect you’re using all the RAM that windows will give it and the program is crashing. You’ll likely either need to move to a linux computer or give up on phylogenetic approaches. FWIW, we have yet to encounter an example where OTU results don’t follow phylogenetic results.
