I am new in metagenomic analysis and I have some money to start barcoding. In on month I will test on a limited number of samples (#10) barcoding of the V4 region and of the V3-V4 region. What is the minimal computer configuration I need for using mothur ?

Mothur doesn’t have any programmatical hardware limitations. We have a broad range of users. Mothur is run on all types of hardware, ranging from laptops to cluster computing. Several of the commands are resource intensive. In general, the larger your dataset the more memory is required. If you run into memory issues, using less processors will help.
