.gz file in make.contigs

Hi !
I’m trying to make contigs with the mothur version 1.36.1 using compressed fastq files (.fastq.gz). Mothur tells me :

mothur > make.contigs(file=stability18022016.files, processors=8)

Using 8 processors.
[ERROR]: Your files must all be in compressed .gz form or all in plain text form.  Please correct.

My file containing the list of my samples seems correct :

1.1J1a  JC34_S1_L001_R1_001.fastq.gz    JC34_S1_L001_R2_001.fastq.gz

What could be the problem ?

Are there hidden file endings or extra spaces in the files file?
