Difference between Mock Community and HMP_MOCK

Can you tell briefly what is difference between Mock Community and HMP_MOCK community?

Dunno. The HMP_MOCK mock community is the mock community that was used by the HMP and is available through BEI resources. It doesn’t matter which mock community you use (i.e. the HMP’s or your own), just that you use one.

Are there any reasons why one should not use an uneven mock community when assessing error rates?

I’m not sure why you would use an uneven mock community. To get the error rates you want as diverse a sample as possible and maximum diversity occurs when your sequences have even abundances. Regardless, it probably doesn’t really matter.
