Hello! I would like to ask how can you create a .tax file for the new silva database?
I created a file only with the name and the taxonomy but it does not work.
You want to create a file with this format, http://www.mothur.org/wiki/Taxonomy_outline. The most common mistake is spaces in the taxonomy. If mothur is giving you errors reports with the file you can run classify.seqs in debug mode to see what is being read in.
mothur > set.dir(debug=t)
mothur > classify.seqs(…)

the website your link directs to has last been modified 2010. Is that the current version? (Looking for the eucaryotic taxonomy from SILVA)
