# Problem with accented characters in interactive window (but logfile OK)

Hello,

I am experiencing a small problem with mothur 1.48 under Windows 10 Pro. I have accented characters in my design file (with “Silène” samples) for amova. Strange characters appear in the mothur window (interactive mode):

Sil├¿neBrown-Sil├¿neGreen (for SilèneBrown-SilèneGreen)

but the logfile and .amova output files are fine, at least when viewed in the Geany text editor.

Hi - it would be best to remove any accented characters since we never test files or group names with such characters.
