Usearch 6.0 was released a couple of months ago. I belive it contains also a new version of uchime. Can you confirm it and if it is so then include it in the next version of Mothur?

Unfortunately, much of what Edgar releases is closed source. Fortunately, he did release a “slow” version of the code that we have directly ported into mothur. Seeing no source notes on the USearch website to explain what has changed between versions it’s hard to say what if anything has changed in the UChime algorithm. I tend to think that nothing has really changed otherwise we would have seen a paper or new benchmarks. He is a very thorough bioinformaticist. Also, I’d add that when I say it’s “slow”, that is relative to the close source version and that the slow version is still very fast relative to other steps.
