Mantel: order of samples in both matrices

Hi Pat and Sarah,
I was wondering if Mantel expects that in the 2 matrices being compared, the samples are in the same order, that is rows and columns in both matrices are the same samples. In the env and veg files in the tutorial that’s the case, but is it required?

Yes, mothur expects the two matrices to be in the same order. It should complain if they are not.
