Is there a way to control the RAM usage?

Hello there,

I am running a pipeline with 174 samples on a server with mothur 1.4.1 for Linux.
It seems that the server is killing my script because I am exceeding the RAM threshold.
the threshold is 477GB and I have tried to limit the number of processors from 20 to 10 with set.current but the issue still persists.
Is there any other way to control the RAM usage?
